Legendary Glasgow DJ George Bowie and top Glasgow hotel Radisson RED teamed up to raise a massive £14,000 for Cash For Kids with a doubleheader of Generation GBX events at the hotel’s RED Sky Bar - which the charity will use to support 400 kids in the city.
Scotland's king of dance music made his RED Sky Bar debut at the event, with the venue having recently been named one of the world's top 50 rooftop bars.
Bringing his new brand Generation GBX, George played a number of favourite club classics from the 90s.
Ticket sales raised just under £7,000 for the charity as the two events sold out in record time – and the hotel immediately doubled the donation, rounding up the ticket money and then throwing in another £7,000.

George said: “We are blown away by the generosity of clubbers in buying tickets for both events so quickly and of course by our new pals Graham Chalmers and the team at Radisson RED, who matched the total raised to give us an amazing total of £14000.
“I love working with Cash For Kids and it’s amazing to find a venue as special as the RED Sky Bar, with a team behind it who are so dedicated to doing good things. We have fallen in love with the place and have massive plans there for future events and collabs – watch this space.”
Radisson RED Curator Graham Chalmers said: “This new Generation GBX idea really appealed to us – it’s a new and exciting twist on a massive brand and that is what we are all about, doing things differently.
“It’s so important to us to give back and George was on board with the charity idea right away, he totally waived his DJ fees and staged the events with us free of charge to make sure we could raise as much as possible.
“I am really happy we were able to match the money raised to generate more funds for this brilliant charity, and we are excited by the ideas we’re working on with George and team GBX for the future. Thanks to everyone who supported these events and see you soon.”
Radio Clyde’s Cash For Kids said: “We’d like to say a huge thank you to George Bowie and Radisson RED for their amazing support and generosity. To sell out not one but two GBX gigs so quickly and raise £7000 is a fantastic achievement and we’re blown away by Radisson RED’s generosity in doubling it.
“Thank you to Graham and the team there and to George and the team at GBX, £14,000 will support 400 local disadvantaged children with a £35 grant for basic essentials we take for granted like food, clothing and heating. As we head towards an autumn overshadowed by the cost of living crisis and new fuel increases this help is needed more than ever. Thank you.”
