Gentleman Jack viewers were thrilled on Sunday night after BBC One finally made a key change to the show's ending after two weeks of complaints. Since the second series started on April 10, the broadcaster's announcer has been talking over the period drama's catchy theme song which plays during the ending credits, leaving many fans frustrated.
Viewers of the hit Yorkshire-based drama - which sees Suranne Jones play Halifax businesswoman and 'first modern lesbian' Anne Lister alongside Sophie Rundle as Ann Walker - have been taking to social media to share their exasperation and asked the BBC to stop the voice over playing over the theme tune.
It seems the message has been received, as during the latest instalment on Sunday, April 24, viewers were delighted to be able to sing along with no interruption. The folk duo who wrote and performed the theme tune, O'Hooley & Tidow, posted on social media that they were "delighted" viewers could finally listen to the full version. In a tweet they said: "Delighted by this. Thanks to everyone who showed their frustration to @BBCOne and they listened!".
