Genshin Impact’s version 3.1 unlocks the desert area of Sumeru and brings fresh characters to the game’s banners. In addition, there is plenty of other content in the pipeline to celebrate the action RPG’s second anniversary, as our recap of the update’s preview livestream shows. If you want to know when Cyno, Nilou, and Candace debut in Genshin Impact, this is the right place.
Genshin Impact 3.1: every banner
In the first phase of version 3.1, which starts on Sept. 28, 2022, and will probably last until Oct. 13, 2022, there will be two banners to choose from, as usual:
- Banner #1: Cyno (5-star character, Polearm, Electro), Candace (4-star character, Polearm, Hydro), and two other 4-star characters.
- Banner #2: Venti (5-star character, Bow, Anemo), Candace (4-star character, Polearm, Hydro), and two other 4-star characters.
The General and Judicator Cyno has turned his back on Sumeru’s academy and is now skeptical of what the sages are up to. He has retreated to his home, the western desert, where he is conducting his own investigation into the Academy’s intentions. Wielding an Electro vision, Cyno is poised to be a strong DPS character.
Candace, the protector of Aaru Village, takes in travellers and refugees alike there. True to her role as a guardian, she protects herself with a powerful shield alongside her polearm weapon, which makes her suitable for a supporting role.
Phase 1 also features Venti’s rerun, making the Anemo archon available once again. This archer is a very powerful Support character, who provides healing and crowd control.
The second half, which runs from the end of the first phase until Nov. 2, 2022, will once again feature two character banners:
- Banner #3: Nilou (5-star character, Sword, Hydro) and three 4-star characters.
- Banner #4: Albedo (5-star character, Sword, Geo) and three 4-star characters.
Nilou enters as a more complex character with both Support and DPS capabilities. She can enter two different attack forms, which have various effects, and works best in teams with two Hydro and two Dendro characters, as this provides her with special benefits.
Another Mondstadt character returns for a rerun in the form of Albedo, who is a useful part of Geo compositions.
As a pleasant surprise, the developers have announced that you’ll get Collei for free in update 3.1 once you finish Room 3 on Level 4 of the Abyss PvE challenges.
