Update 2.7 of Genshin Impact will be released on May 30, 2022, according to developer Mihoyo, and will last for six weeks. Accordingly, Hoyoverse has already scheduled the release of update 2.8 for July 13, 2022.
The maintenance work will start on May 30 at 6 p.m. EDT and is to last five hours. Afterward, as usual, you should find a few Primogems in your in-game mail as compensation.
Update 2.7 will bring two fresh characters into the game: Yelan, a mysterious Hydro character from Liyue, and Kuki Shinobu, an Electro character hailing from Inazuma and the right hand of Arataki Itto. We’ll learn more about these two characters and what else the update has in store during the livestream for version 2.7, which is scheduled to take place on May 20, 2022, at 8 a.m. EDT on Genshin Impact’s official Twitch channel. The developers will also drop some codes for free Primogems during the livestream.
In April 2022, the developer announced that it would have to postpone the release of version 2.7 indefinitely, as the company was behind the set schedule. The delay was caused by the current Covid-19 outbreak in Shanghai, which brought the city to a near-complete standstill.
Hoyoverse is one of the companies that, by order of the Chinese authorities, were allowed to resume operations at their offices in the current week. Fortunately, that means that an end to Genshin’s current content drought is finally in sight.
