The Seattle Seahawks earned a win in their regular season finale on Sunday against the Arizona Cardinals, but they still missed out on the playoffs after the Green Bay Packers clinched the No. 7 seed in the NFC.
Despite failing to reach the postseason, quarterback Geno Smith had a smile on his face after the game, and he explained his positive perspective on the season in an on-field interview with FOX’s Laura Okmin after the game.
“We shouldn’t have left it up to the [Chicago] Bears anyway, that’s on us. But, I just like the way we fight. Circumstances shouldn’t dictate your mood, your effort. And I love the way these guys fight. We fight no matter what,” said Smith. “We came out, we fought til the end, we got a win in our last game. That’s all that matters.”

The Seahawks improved to 9-8 following Sunday’s victory over the Cardinals, but it was too little too late for Seattle, as the Packers’ win over the Bears sealed their fate.
Smith didn’t hone in on the team’s shortcomings throughout the year, instead choosing to focus on the positives of Sunday’s win, including the team’s resiliency and willingness to battle to the end, even if they didn’t get the results they were after.
