Geno Smith Exits Seahawks-Giants Game With Injury From Questionable Hit on Sideline

Seahawks quarterback Geno Smith exited Monday night’s game against the Giants after suffering a knee injury midway through the second quarter.

Seattle announced Smith, 32, has been listed as questionable to return after getting tackled from behind by Giants linebacker Isaiah Simmons

A Smith scramble toward New York’s sideline led to the QB being dragged down by Simmons. The tackle ended with Simmons landing directly on the back of Smith's legs. Upon standing, Smith displayed a noticeable limp as he walked to Seattle’s bench, where he briefly stood before coming back on the field and getting into a shouting match with Giants safety Xavier McKinney over the hit.

Smith left the game for the medical tent and was eventually carted to the locker room for an X-ray, leaving backup Drew Lock to lead the Seahawks in relief.

The veteran quarterback returned to the game in the second half, but it remains to be seen how effectively he can play. If the Seahawks add to their 14–3 halftime lead, the team may decide to rest him with a bye set for Week 5.

In limited action during the first half, Smith completed nine of his 11 pass attempts for 67 yards and a touchdown prior to exiting.
