An East Ayrshire restaurant has been giving back to the community.
The kind-hearted team at The Mill House, Stewarton, donated a three-figure sum to a local group, famed for its traditional gala day in the town.
More than £450 was raised for the Stewarton Bonnet Guild, with the family-owned bar and restaurant hosting a barbecue which proved to be popular.
Held in partnership with The Woodsman, famous for its blended scotch, attendees were able to enjoy a cookout on the terrace and sample an array of dishes and drinks, including burgers and Woodsman special cocktails in the sun.
The money raised helped the Stewarton Bonnet Guild, a local non-profit community group ran by volunteers, put on their traditional annual gala day following an enforced two-year hiatus due to Covid.
The guild, which formed in 1933, has been at the heart of the community for many years; organising events and activities for families with young children, including a week-long celebration that leads up to the main Stewarton Gala Day, taking place on the third Saturday of June each year.
The Mill House general manager Calum Smith said: “The team here are always keen to give back to the local community and we are proud to have played our part in raising some much-needed funds for the Stewarton Bonnet Guild.
“It was great to welcome some of the guild members across the weekend and have them join us in the sunshine as we laid on some delicious food and drink, in partnership with The Woodsman.
"I’d like to thank everyone who attended, we had a brilliant weekend and look forward to hosting more barbecues this summer.”
Hugh Gillies, president of Stewarton Bonnet Guild, said: “We were absolutely delighted to receive £455 from The Mill House following their in-house promotion to mark this year's Bonnet Guild week.
"As a not-for-profit organisation, every penny raised by the Bonnet Guild goes towards ensuring the local festival will be able to return in 2023, for the whole community to enjoy once again.
“The community spirit and generosity shown by all of our local supporters is second to none, and we really appreciate each and every donation. My sincere thanks again."
