Fresh off a statement win over T1 in the LCK Cup 2026 upper bracket, BFX entered the series with momentum on their side, but Gen.G proved too strong, claiming a 3-1 victory to book their place in the finals and extend their dominant run.
While the first match matched both squads evenly, Gen.G managed to close out the contest after securing the dragons and outpacing their opponents. BFX managed to have a stronger start in the next match, but they eventually conceded their lead to lose that match as well.
In game three, Chovy picked up a solo kill on VicLa with Mel, but BFX refused to back down, stacking dragons throughout the mid game before eventually securing the soul. They managed control the match’s tempo with solid teamfights. Eventually, they forced Gen.G to take bad fights near the Baron and destroyed the Nexus to make it a series.
Just as BFX looked poised to mount a comeback, Gen.G opened game four with Canyon on his longtime comfort pick, Nidalee, a champion he holds over an 80 percent win rate on. His early ganks set the tone, and Gen.G capitalized on the momentum, dismantling BFX to secure their place in the LCK Cup finals.

Gen.G dropped just two games while winning every match they played this year. Last year, they fell to Hanwha Life Esports in the tournament final, with HLE later qualifying for FST 2025 and going on to win the title. This time, however, HLE were eliminated early and finished last in the event, meaning Gen.G will face a new team in the finals happening in Hong Kong.
With this upper bracket finals win, Gen.G became the first team to qualify for the first international League esports event: First Stand 2026. Unlike last year, when each region’s domestic champion automatically secured a spot at the event, this year, both Korea and China have been allocated two seeds.
As a result, regardless of the outcome of the LCK Cup 2026 finals or the LPL Split 1 playoff finals, both finalists will advance to the international event. The qualification rules remain unchanged for the other regions, as they prepare to send their champions to the event in Brazil.
