Gemma Collins returning to I’m A Celebrity jungle after famously quitting just three days in

This is not a drill, Gemma Collins is officially set to return to the jungle more than a decade after her famously short-lived appearance.

The former TOWIE star has been confirmed as part of the line-up for the new series of I'm a Celebrity... South Africa, ITV’s all-stars spin-off which sees former campmates return to face even tougher challenges.

Collins originally took part in the 2014 series of I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! but quit the show after just three days in camp, becoming one of the shortest-serving contestants in the programme’s history.

Her brief stint in the Australian jungle nevertheless produced several memorable moments, including a dramatic Bushtucker Trial in which she repeatedly shouted the show’s famous catchphrase: “I’m a Celebrity… get me out of here!”

The 44-year-old will now head to the South African wilderness alongside a group of returning campmates including Olympic champion Sir Mo Farah, boxing star David Haye and former jungle queen Scarlett Moffatt.

Other celebrities confirmed for the series include presenter Ashley Roberts, former footballer Jimmy Bullard, comedian Seann Walsh, Coronation Street star Beverley Callard and singer Sinitta.

Also heading into camp are actor and DJ Craig Charles, football manager Harry Redknapp and actor and presenter Adam Thomas.

The series will once again be hosted by presenting duo Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly.

Campmates have already proved they can survive the Australian jungle, but ITV said the South African version takes the format to a new level, with tougher trials and higher stakes.

The broadcaster said the returning celebrities will face “relentless twists and turns” and a series of extreme challenges designed to test even the most experienced jungle contestants.

An additional twist for the second series will see viewers given the power to decide who is crowned the ultimate jungle legend. After weeks of trials and eliminations, the public will vote in a live grand final broadcast from London.

The companion vodcast I’m A Celebrity… Unpacked, hosted by Sam Thompson and Kemi Rodgers, will also return. It will be available on ITVX, Spotify and YouTube, with an audio version released across podcast platforms.

A live edition of the show will also air on ITV2 and ITVX immediately after the ITV1 finale.

I’m A Celebrity… South Africa returns this April on ITV.
