Gemma Atkinson says 'sorry Gorks' as she makes observation about daughter ahead of becoming a big sister

Gemma Atkinson has jokingly said 'sorry' to her fiancé Gorka Marquez after making an observation about their daughter as she prepares to become a big sister. The Hits Radio host and her Strictly Come Dancing star beau announced back in January that they were expecting their second child together.

Sharing a string of images on Instagram the loved-up couple, who met on Strictly when Gemma was a contestant but dancing with pro Aljaž Škorjanec in 2017, confirmed they were expanding their brood and will be welcoming a baby boy into the family, a little brother for their three-year-old daughter, Mia.

One of the sweet black and white snaps showed Gemma gazing at her blossoming bump before she grinned for a selfie with her husband-to-be and their little girl as they wait to become a family of four - or six if you include Gemma's beloved dogs Ollie and Norman.

"Impossible to hide my belly any longer. I’ve officially 'popped'," Gemma wrote in the caption to her millions of followers. "Our baby boy will be joining our family later this year." Gemma, 38, has since been keeping her followers updated on her pregnancy journey, and previously confirmed that her son is due in the summer.

The former Hollyoaks and Emmerdale star revealed last month that she'll be spending some time on-and-off on her own as Gorka completes his latest tour, titled Firedance, with Strictly co-star Karen Hauer. The Spanish dancer did return home after ten days away but there were tears when he had to leave again.

Last week, to mark Gorka being home, the trio had another Pancake Day together. "Papa being home was short and sweet, especially with Pancakes. (We had another pancake day together)," wrote Gemma as she shared snaps of father and daughter in the kitchen on her Instagram.

"Mia is always ok when Gorks is packing and saying bye, but every time, right before he gets in his car she bursts into tears Then that makes him do the same!" Gemma, whose father David tragically passed away in 2002 when she was 17, added: "It’s always hard and I guess something we’re hoping Mia gets used too. I know how it feels missing your dad so I feel for her so much.

"And I miss her after just one night away so I know it’s hard for Gorka too. "So many families have similar or partners away for even longer so it’s nice in some ways to know we’re all in it together."

But after another period of time away, Gorka has been back at the family's Greater Manchester home and has been making the most of some father-and-daughter time. Filming himself on their navy blue sofa, Mia could be heard showing her dad her new cutting skills. "Oh... how I missed her," Gorka, 32, laughed as Gemma reshared the post to clarify: "I only taught her to cut paper. Nothing else!" alongside a crying laughing emoji.

Gemma then shared a video of her daughter playing, clearly keeping herself entertained. "Obsessed with playing 'pre school,'" the mum-of-one, from Bury, shared." She's going to be mother hen to her little brother," Gemma said before adding: "The poor little fella," alongside a crying laughing emoji.

And she also picked up on her daughter's developing accent which is often the talk of fans when Gemma shared videos on Instagram. "P.s. 'Earlyehhh'. She's so Manc," Gemma cheered before adding: "Sorry Gorks."

Gemma was hailed an "inspiration" last week after she shared two side-by-side photos to her social media profile. One showed her back in 2020 nearly a year after her pregnancy with Mia, who was born in July 2019, and one from her current pregnancy before she went on to share what she's learnt from her two pregnancies so far.

"The change in body shape and size is the obvious," she said in the post. "My boobs, bum, legs and belly have doubled in size. Not all clothes fit and the majority certainly aren’t comfortable. My cellulite has doubled. My coordination, balance and even memory are a little off. The veins in my boobs when I’m warm are like a road map and from sleeping only on my left side for almost 6 months my back is a tad sore.

"People keep reminding me how “big” I am. Yes I know. Believe it or not I’m fully aware and I’m hoping to get bigger! That means little man is growing. My options in all of the above are to spend the 9 months dwelling about not feeling or looking like myself OR show up regardless. As I am. Get shit done run our home, work and be present for Mia bumping along each day at a time."
