Gemma Atkinson has shared a 'surreal' and humbling moment with her fans whilst in her home city. The Hits Radio host from Bury revealed she was backstage at the AO arena in Manchester in what was a full circle moment.
The mum-of-one, who shares her daughter Mia with Strictly Come Dancing professional Gorka Márquez, presents the drivetime show daily alongside Mike Toolan. But on Friday night (November 11) the former Hollyoaks and Emmerdale star was at the arena for the Hits Radio Live gig.
The station's live show will see big names take to the stage including Sam Smith, Craig David and Olly Murs. It marks the radio show's return to the venue for the multi-artist event for the first time since the pandemic.

Gemma, who met her fiancé Gorka whilst taking part in Strictly back in 2017 when she came runner-up with professional dancer Aljaž Škorjanec, revealed that being back at the AO arena was a 'surreal' moment for her.
Sharing a photo beaming alongside the Hits Radio logo, she told her 1.8 million Instagram followers: "Backstage at the AO arena in Manchester doing our show live ahead of the Hits Live Gig! Surreal that I grew up 20 mins up the road from here, I saw my very first concert here and I’m now backstage interviewing the artists ahead of the show! Feeling very lucky."
But Gemma also made a cheeky admission to her partner Gorka, who is currently in London preparing for Strictly Come Dancing tomorrow (November 12).
As Gemma donned a trendy bomber jacket, leather leggings and Vans, she confessed: "Also realised this pics showing Gorka I’ve stolen his vans whilst he’s in London."
But Gorka didn't seem to be phased, as he responded: "I love your shoes!!!!", alongside love heart eyes and laughing face emojis.
However the confession seemed to leave some fans confused, with @lottiemary5 asking: "You’re the same shoe size?!" and fan @jotaylor1052 adding: "How big are your feet? love it."
Gorka and Countryfile host Helen Skelton are currently impressing the judges and viewers with their moves in the BBC One dance contest.
Last Saturday night, the pair were suited and booted as they performed a jive in the ballroom and received a score of 37 for their routine to Janelle Monae’s Tightrope.
It left them joint-second in the leaderboard, just one point behind Hamza Yassin who topped the scoreboard in sparkling fashion with three perfect 10s across the board.
This week the pair are set to take on a Salsa to 'Despacito' by Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee featuring Justin Bieber.
