Gemma Atkinson hits out at message on toilet door in gym as she shares own message to women

Gemma Atkinson was left shocked during a recent visit to the gym after discovering a message on the doors of the toilet. The Hits Radio host is usually seen sharing video clips and snaps from her home gym but this time she headed out for a workout.

The gym bunny, who recently released her second book The Ultimate Body Plan for New Mums 12 Weeks to Finding You Again, is known for sharing honest posts about being a mum as well as empowering others when it comes to to their health and fitness.

But Gemma's latest find left her reeling and she took to her Instagram page to share what she had seen with her millions of followers.

The former Emmerdale and Hollyoaks star shared a snap with her millions of followers on Tuesday (April 19) which showed a gents and a ladies toilet. On the men's door, a message read "Do Epic S**t" while the message on the other door said 'Smile You're Losing Weight'.

Clearly unhappy with what she had just read, Gemma fumed: "Erm… wtf? I’ll stick to doing Epic S**t thanks! I can’t believe this wording in a gym toilet… And they wonder why so many women have insecurities and limit their eating. Even if this is supposed to be a joke about using the loo, it’s still not in great at all."

She then shared her own message, writing: "FUEL your body to be STRONG ladies and for it to FUNCTION PROPERLY. DO NOT try to shrink yourself. And please ALWAYS remember that we can do epic s**t!"

Gemma's Strictly star fiancé Gorka Marquez was among the first to respond, writing: "WTF!!! Then we wonder why so many people have insecurities…" and Gemma's followers were equally unimpressed.

"It’s a gym toilet?! That’s even worse!! I wondered where it was. Someone should go in with a tin of paint. That’s so awful," @ ruth_walton1010 said

@caterina_fontana79 commented: "I’d literally cancel my membership immediately!!!"

"Oh my god that makes me soooo cross," @inreachpilates wrote.

@karinaforrest shared: "WTSF? Well done on calling this out Gemma!"

"Someone best get the paint roller out me thinks!" @lauraekwhyte added.

The former Strictly Come Dancing finalist previously took a swipe at people who say women who train in the gym are “too strong” or “too masculine”, saying she isn’t changing for anyone. For a 2017 interview with Women’s Health magazine she dished out some motivating words for her followers.

Gemma also addressed the issue on her Instagram Story (Gemma Atkinson Instagram)

She said: "Speaking out to trolls who say ladies who train are 'too strong' or 'too masculine' or 'too intimidating' Well we ain’t changing for you I’m afraid!" And she added: “Suck it up buttercup... Oh and if you train a bit harder, maybe you’ll look like a man one day too."

Gemma also recently shared her daughter's own incredible 'gym journey'. The proud mum-of-one shared how Mia learned to walk in the couple's home gym as well as videoing herself and her two-year-old having a go at a few dumbbell squats.

The Bury-born star, 37, impressed fans last week when she managed to keep her composure while reading nasty online comments about her on her radio show. She was challenged to 'face her feedback' on the Hits Radio drive-time show which she hosts with co-star Mike Toolan.
