Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) for Arab States Dr. Nayef Falah Al-Hajraf welcomed on Friday a statement issued by the United Nations Security Council condemning the Houthi militia terrorist attacks on facilities in the United Arab Emirates.
Al-Hajraf said the statement confirms the importance that the international community attaches to the Yemeni crisis, which started when the Houthis staged their coup against the constitutional legitimacy.
He stressed the firm position of the GCC on ending the Yemeni crisis through a political solution in line with the three references, represented by the GCC initiative and its executive mechanism, the outcomes of the National Dialogue Conference and Security Council Resolution 2216.
He also called on the Houthis to respond to the calls for a ceasefire and to engage positively in the efforts made by the United Nations and its special envoy to Yemen to resume political consultations between the Yemeni parties without preconditions in order to achieve security and stability in the country.
