Rob Brydon has revealed he has "no burning desire" to reprise his iconic role as Uncle Bryn in Gavin & Stacey.
The actor and comedian, 56, says the BBC hit show "changed everything" for him, but he is not bothered about playing loveable Uncle Bryn again.
When quizzed, he said about future episodes: "No one's said anything to me.
"And to be honest, I have no burning desire to play Uncle Bryn again.
"If Ruth [Jones] and James [Corden] write another one, I'd do it, but I'd be just as happy if the whole cast got together and went out for dinner," he told the Daily Star.
The much-loved sitcom, which follows titular characters and couple Gavin and Stacey as well as their hilarious relations, aired from 2007 and 2010.
Written by James Corden and Ruth Jones, who starred as on-off again couple Smithy and Nessa, the show is still immensely popular and won numerous awards.
In 2019, the cast, which also includes Alison Steadman and Larry Lamb, reunited for a Christmas special. The episode ended on a cliffhanger when Nessa proposed to Smithy, and ever since fans have been keen for the show to once again return.
In October Joanna Page, who plays Stacey, announced she plans to give up acting and dedicate her to career to TV presenting.
The mum of four, 44, said however that reprising her role of Stacey would tempt her back to acting.
“We all want to know what Smithy said at the end,” the presenter of Shop Well for Less said.
“It’s such a great job. You’re working with people who make you laugh all day long like Rob Brydon. The Christmas special felt like a big reunion.”
Speaking in October, Joanna said if the show makes a return it would be “very out of the blue” as was the case when James and Ruth contacted her about the special, which attracted 18 million viewers.
She added: “None of the rest of the cast ever expected we would do another special. We didn’t have a clue."
In May, James hinted there could be one final outing for Gavin & Stacey so fans can see what happened after Nessa proposed.
He said: “It certainly doesn’t feel like the end of a book; it feels like the end of a chapter.”
But it’s very much the final chapter. He added: “I think if we ever did another one that would be the end of it.”
He said there were no plans yet, but added: “That’s not to say there isn’t the want, or the inclination to do one.
“When we wrote that special we never really thought whether we’d make another one. But it’s so open-ended it would be a shame to leave it there. That’s certainly my feeling, and I think Ruth feels the same.”
