Giant alligators have been released into the Rio Grande to deter illegal migrants from crossing the border river to the United States, reports Mexican media.
The scare emerged after U.S. Border Patrol agents photographed what looks like an enormous ‘gator swimming near Eagle Pass, Texas, a regular crossing point.
Eagle Pass is across the Rio Grande from Piedras Negras in the Mexican state of Coahuila.
