The full list of candidates standing in Gateshead at next month’s local elections has been confirmed.
Voters will soon head to the polls for this year's local elections on May 4, with council seats up for grabs in all 22 wards in Gateshead.
The newly-anointed leader of the borough's Lib Dem opposition, Ron Beadle, is seeking re-election in his seat of Low Fell. He has retained this seat since 1996 when he was first elected.
The Labour deputy mayor, Robert Waugh, is also on the campaign trail, hoping to be returned to the civic centre as one of Saltwell's councillors.
The process will be different this year as, for the first time, voters will need to provide photo identification before being allowed to cast their ballot.
The deadline to register to vote is Monday, April 17, and applications for a postal vote must be made by Tuesday, April 18.
