Gas company Perenco has said it will launch an investigation after an oil leak at a pipeline it operates led to a major incident being declared at Poole Harbour.
Approximately 200 barrels of reservoir fluid - consisting of 85% water and 15% oil - were released into the harbour after the leak occurred on Sunday (March 26) at the UK’s largest onshore oil field, Wytch Farm oil field in Dorset.
Perenco, said a “small” amount had escaped from its pipeline under Owers Bay, and that as of late on Sunday night, some of it had already been recovered.
