Nottingham Forest target Jed Wallace is “unlikely” to make a comeback from injury this weekend.
Millwall boss Gary Rowett has provided an update on the winger, who has been struggling with a quad problem.
Wallace had returned to training prior to last Saturday’s clash with the Reds, but suffered a set-back in the build-up to the game and was not involved. It is said a scan showed “a small tear in the muscle”.
It meant he avoided coming up against the team which remains keen on signing him this month, with Steve Cooper’s side winning 1-0 at The Den thanks to Lewis Grabban’s late winner.
Rowett says the 27-year-old looks set to remain sidelined for Millwall’s trip to Blackpool tomorrow.
“Touch and go whether he would be available this weekend, it probably looks unlikely,” he told the South London Press.
“When he did the injury, because it is the second injury to the quad, then you’re probably looking at a couple of weeks rather than seven to 10 days, which the first one was.
“Hopefully he’ll be available for the game after that.”
Wallace’s last game was on December 11, when he came off after 74 minutes in a 2-1 defeat at Peterborough United.
Some Millwall fans had speculated he had refused to play against Forest.
In reply to one supporter, he tweeted: “Thankyou for your kind words, I’ve played over 200 games for Millwall & never took that for granted. Would never ever refuse to play, I’ve just had a minor setback on my injury. I’m not a robot these things happen and I’m doing all I can to get back to playing ASAP. Thankyou.”
