Gary Neville slams Mohamed Salah 'disrespect' after Liverpool forward snub

Sky Sports pundit Gary Neville has highlighted the lack of respect shown towards Liverpool star Mohamed Salah.

Though the Reds were unable to lift any silverware last season, Salah enjoyed a prolific second-half of the 2021-22 campaign and followed that up in the first half of this season finding the back of the net regularly for club and country.

His all around play was seen by many involved in the game as world-class and Salah was tipped to pick up a plethora of individual awards at the end of 2021.

However, the Egyptian ended the year empty handed as Paris Saint-Germain's Lionel Messi scooped up the Ballon d'Or, Salah finished in seventh place and he was once again snubbed for the 2021 Best FIFA Men’s Player award where he was placed in third.

And former Manchester United and England defender Neville has stuck up for the 29-year-old, pointing out that he should be winning these accolades.

“It does feel like he is disrespected globally when it comes to these types of awards,” said Neville on Sky Sports on Friday night.

Salah currently has 18 months left on his current deal and is currently in negotiations with the club about extending his contract.
