Gary Neville has heaped praise on the 'phenomenal' Erling Haaland and sent a warning that he would be even more dangerous if teammates found him more often.
Haaland netted his 50th goal of the season for City in Wednesday evening's 3-0 win over West Ham United, with 35 of those coming from 31 league appearances. A deft chip over Lukasz Fabianski took him past Alan Shearer and Andy Cole as the highest scorer in a single Premier League campaign.
At full-time, Pep Guardiola organised a guard of honour for the Norwegian who has up to nine games to reach an incredible 60 goals. And Neville has described the Blues striker as a 'once in a lifetime', warning that there could be even more goals to come.
RATINGS: Ake and Grealish help Haaland break record vs West Ham
“He scores more goals than he has touches,” Neville told Sky Sports. “We’ve barely seen him for half an hour, his team-mates ignore most of his runs. If they didn’t do that then he really would be dangerous.
“Sometimes you watch a footballer and think it’s a once-in-a-lifetime type. There’s your world-class types and then there’s another level, which is where Haaland is at. We very rarely see these players come to the Premier League in their prime. What he has brought to this Man City team is something else.
“They are so much better to watch with him in this team. It means they can now be great at the perfect football -nice passes and goals - and the imperfect football - the high intensity and pressing. He doesn’t fit into the ideology of Pep Guardiola football.
"He doesn’t drop deep, he’s not a false number nine and he’s sometimes a bit clumsy with the ball at his feet. He’s phenomenal. It’s breathtaking to see a player with such speed. He’s everything you want to see in a centre forward.”
