Gary Neville has not held back when giving his verdict on Marcus Rashford after claims he was weighing up his Manchester United future.
The England international was left on the bench for Manchester United's 4-1 derby defeat by Pep Guardiola's side despite injuries to Cristiano Ronaldo and Edinson Cavani, which Neville reckons was the "ultimate put-down" for the striker.
Rashford has started just two of United's last 11 Premier League games under Ralf Rangnick as he came off the bench at the Etihad.
In the wake of the resounding defeat, multiple reports claimed that Rashford is considering a move away from Old Trafford due to his lack of game-time.
Mirror Football understands he is not happy with suggestions he is looking to leave the club, however.
But Ralf Rangnick said on Friday evening Rashford is free to leave United in the summer if he wishes to do so.
Rio Ferdinand hit out at the forward and insists he should feel "embarrassed" if the claims came from his camp.
And now Neville has spoken out about the situation and has been equally critical of both the player and the club.
He tweeted: "1. A failure for United’s football department if he leaves.
"2. A very poor look for Marcus Rashford if he can’t get his form right to break into this team.
"3. Marcus Rashford and the team would be naive if they think his off-pitch voice will carry without the Man United badge.
"Lose/Lose if he goes. Sort it out!"
I don't think that he's not had enough game time,” said Rangnick, whose United side host Tottenham on Saturday in a huge game in the battle for fourth spot.
“He's had 13 or 14 games since I've been here now.
“He's played more games from the start than he didn't play from the start.
“I don't think this is an issue and he never said anything about that when we spoke yesterday. But again, the window is closed right now.
“Even, suppose he and his agents or his family at one stage of the summer think about maybe going to another club, well then he can do that, but in the summer.
“Now the window is closed. It's got nothing to do with tomorrow's game or the game on Tuesday.”
Rashford is under contract until the summer of 2023, although the club have an option to extend the deal by a year, something they will likely exercise to protect the forward's market value.
Ferdinand ripped into the United academy graduate insisting "you've got to be playing well before you talk like that."
He told the FIVE YouTube channel: "That's thrown me, I've got to be honest. If that's real, I can't believe it's real, I've got to be honest.
"If it's real, and let's take it as it is, you can only talk like that when you're playing well. You can only talk like that when you're performing and scoring, and Marcus isn't doing that right now.
"He hasn't played well for a while now. He doesn't look happy at the moment, he doesn't look happy at United. Tell me if I'm wrong.
"I watch him and he looks like he's got the weight of the world on his shoulders. I've seen it for weeks, he doesn't look happy.
"The Marcus Rashford that came in, that was United, he had energy, spark, quality, aggression, spark, work ethic.
"Those things aren't what I'm seeing right now. If he's brutally honest with himself, he would admit that.
"I don't know where this information has come from but I hope it's not from Marcus' camp because I'd be embarrassed if it had because he's not scoring, which is his job and hasn't been decisive.
"The club is in a low ebb and you're looking at your future. You've got to be playing well mate before you talk like that, I'm sorry.
"He used to be electrifying but I don't see that energy right now. He doesn't look happy, man."
