Gary Neville quickly changes his Leeds United tune after 'carnage' of comeback win at Wolves

Gary Neville has emphasised the significance of Leeds United's win over Wolverhampton Wanderers as Jesse Marsch's side produced a remarkable second-half fightback to seal an important three points at Molineux. However, it proved to be a costly start as the Whites were forced to make three early substitutions when Patrick Bamford, Diego Llorente and Mateusz Klich all limped off before half-time.

And Wolves took advantage of Leeds' problems and scored two quick-fire goals as Jonny and Francisco Trincao gave Bruno Lage's side a healthy cushion. But the game changed on the hour mark when Raul Jimenez was shown his second yellow card for a late challenge on Illan Meslier, who also had to be substituted.

The red card gave Leeds the momentum, though, and they pulled one back through Jack Harrison, before Rodrigo levelled the scoreline moments later for his second goal in as many matches. And there was still time for the Whites to grab a dramatic late winner.

Luke Ayling brought the ball down inside the area and smashed an effort into the back of the net to send the travelling fans wild, securing the Whites' second successive win in the meantime. It is a result that has moved Leeds seven points clear of the relegation zone with eight Premier League matches to play.

After the game, Neville told Sky Sports: "I had them down at half-time! I can’t believe what I’ve seen in that second half. The red card had a massive impact on the result, but they still had to go and score three goals. That’s a massive, massive night for Leeds United Football Club.

"It was absolute carnage! That’s the type of thing I’d have done (substitutes running on the pitch). It’s absolutely the type of thing you want in football, I know some of the Leeds’ substitutes would’ve been booked but you can’t blame them. They’ve been absolutely down and out in these last few weeks.

"They’ve lost a manager that they love. They’ve got a new manager, but at half-time I thought they were in massive, massive trouble because when I watch them they were an absolute mess.

"That 45 minutes, the impact it’ll have on those players. When Bamford went off in the first half they were beaten. At half-time, I thought they were in serious, serious trouble. Football can shock us, the sending off had a huge impact but what a night that is for Leeds.

"They’ve lost their father figure in Marcelo Bielsa, what he’s done for them fathering this team. He’s believed in them and created a unique style, we all loved watching Leeds the past few years because everytime you watch them there’s an element of chaos.

"And the freedom at which they play but it got to a point where it was unsavoury to watch them as it became a bit of a mess. But, that second half from Leeds, it’s a massive night and they know that because it takes them seven points clear. For Watford and Burnley, oh my goodness me, that is incredible."
