Gary Neville insists Liverpool can have an "incredible season" after performing a U-turn over his belief that they were a team "in decline".
Jurgen Klopp 's side have the opportunity to claim their first silverware of the season when they take on Chelsea in the Carabao Cup final at Wembley on Sunday.
The Reds have been in relentless form of late and find themselves fighting for trophies on all four fronts after clawing their way back into this season's Premier League title race.
And prior to Sunday's showpiece final, former Manchester United defender Neville admitted that Klopp's side have forced him to backtrack on his belief that Liverpool were "in decline".
"I thought Liverpool were in decline," the Sky Sports pundit revealed. "In decline from a very, very high place.
"They were one of the best teams that you’ll see in Premier League a few years ago when they won it.
"What I think they’ve done is dip off that level a little bit, but now it feels like they’re coming back and they could have an incredible season this year.
"They could go on to win the Premier League, they’re still in the Champions League, they’ve obviously got a trophy to play for today - I think the winner of this trophy today will be in good stead for the rest of the season."
Liverpool ended their 30-year wait for a top-flight English league title in 2020, a mere 12 months after Klopp guided the Reds to Champions League glory.
The Merseysiders finished a whopping 18 points ahead of nearest challengers Manchester City back then and their front three of Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino produced some scintillating performances throughout the campaign.

The Reds then endured a miserable title defence, eventually clinching a top-four finish on the final day of the following season - a campaign in which they were famously hammered 7-2 by Aston Villa.
Following their recent resurgence, it's clear Neville feels Klopp's side have recovered from their dip in form, with Sunday's trip to Wembley their first in what could be a number of huge finals this season.
Liverpool face formidable opposition in Thomas Tuchel's Chelsea however, who themselves capped off a fine couple of seasons by recently claiming the Club World Cup.
Ahead of the match, Neville tipped Liverpool to have the edge in the final, with their outstanding form of late making them the slight favourites.
"You’d have to say just Liverpool," Neville admitted when discussing which team held the edge ahead of Sunday.
"They have better attacking players, a better team and they look like they’re in a moment.
"They’re in a great run, although Chelsea have just picked up in the last few weeks as well. I do just think Liverpool."
While the Reds also find themselves locked in a two-horse race with City for the Premier League title, both sides remain in the FA Cup and carry 2-0 leads into the second legs of their respective Champions League Round of 16 clashes.
