The treble is on for Manchester City and Gary Neville feels the FA Cup final is perfectly set up for both Manchester clubs.
Pep Guardiola's side claimed the Premier League on Saturday evening, following Arsenal's defeat at Nottingham Forest. That is one of the three trophies City are pushing for, with a Champions League final against Inter Milan to come and the aforementioned clash with United at Wembley.
As a former United defender, Neville understands the Manchester derby as well as anyone and sees it as the ideal sub-plot to City's treble chase. Speaking on Sky Sports' latest Super Sunday coverage, Neville highlighted how special this City season has been and the joy he's had watching them over the course of the campaign.
RATINGS: Casemiro and Varane good in Bournemouth win
"I think that would be what City would want and I think that would be what Manchester United would want - an opportunity to try and take away the treble," said Neville. "I think Manchester City, the reason this title might be more special is because it could lead to a treble and obviously the fact it’s three-in-a-row. I actually like this Pep Guardiola team from a personal standpoint more than any of the other Pep Guardiola teams - it’s imperfect.
"We’ve seen great technical football teams that Pep Guardiola has produced over the last 10-15 years. But the fact that Ake or Akanji played left back, Stones or someone else playing right back, the fact that Haaland is up front - he’s not perfect technically - they’re more powerful, stronger, physically dominant, which I really love in a team. And this is probably not the best technical Pep Guardiola team, but it’s my favourite and the one I would least like to play against."
