Gary Neville says Manchester United’s ability to bounce back from disheartening defeats will see them earn a top four Premier League finish.
After a disappointing loss to Newcastle, the Reds responded with a 1-0 win over Brentford last week before beating Everton 2-0 on Saturday. It means United sit fourth, only behind the Magpies on goal difference and three points ahead of Tottenham with a game in hand.
Both United and Newcastle are frontrunners in the race for Champions League qualification with just nine Premier League games left to play. Erik ten Hag’s side still have Spurs to play away from home as well as the yet-to-be rearranged clash with Chelsea.

Meanwhile, Tottenham face Newcastle at the end of this month before jousting with Liverpool and in-form Aston Villa during the run-in. Eddie Howe's team otherwise still have Arsenal and Chelsea to take on.
Neville believes the character shown by United this season will see them over the line, having won every game after a loss this season since the two opening defeats to Brighton and Brentford.
Speaking on his Sky Sports podcast, the pundit pointed out which recent win impressed him, saying: “I thought Man United were really poor against Newcastle. But what we’ve seen with this side under Erik ten Hag is that they do respond and they do bounce back.
“They were dominant against Everton but beating Brentford was really important. Six points from that week doesn’t look so bad now. They do respond and come back which will mean they do finish in those Champions League places.
“With Tottenham, they were pretty fortunate against Brighton. But it gives them a chance, they’re still in it.” United have Casemiro back from a four-game domestic suspension while Christian Eriksen returns from his long-term ankle injury at a crucial point in the season.
