The pressure is on Daniel Levy to get the appointment of the next Tottenham manager right or risk further unrest among supporters. Spurs have struggled to find a long-term successor to Mauricio Pochettino since he was dismissed, with Jose Mourinho, Nuno Espirito Santo and Antonio Conte failing to see out their contracts at the club.
While those three tenures have seen some relative success, such as a League Cup final and a return to the Champions League, ultimately it will mean little going into next season. Further to that, there are questions over the style of play and the future of the squad as a whole.
Plenty of options have been linked with the vacant managerial position, with Julian Nagelsmann and Luis Enrique amongst the top names. It remains to be seen who will eventually take over, but the decision has to be the right one to get the project back on track.

For former Manchester United defender Gary Neville, the tactics appear key to the search and who will come next. Discussing the side's difficulties away at Liverpool in the first half, he told Sky Sports: "What we are watching here, I remember four or five years ago Spurs were a pressing team.
"They’ve been turned into a team who sit behind the ball over the last five years by three consecutive managers that play more reactive football than proactive football. That’s the major thing in summer, they’ve got to go back to having a progressive coach, which they did under Mauricio Pochettino and Harry Redknapp.
"They had managers who always felt the glass was half full, with personality and character in the team. I have to say, over the last few years the joy has been sapped out of watching Spurs. They sit back in their shape - it’s a way of winning football matches that is gone. This football doesn’t exist anymore.
"You might do it the odd game, but that 5-4-1 shape bores the absolute - I’m not gonna say it. Look at them, they’re disinterested. They’ve got no idea how to press, there’s no trigger."
It makes a key point as to how Tottenham must approach their next appointment with a project that shows a sense of progression, if not immediate success.
