Gary Neville fires 'Maoism' dig at Angus Kinnear after £270m Andrea Radrizzani loss reports

Sky Sports pundit and former Manchester United defender Gary Neville has taken a jab at Leeds United's chief executive Angus Kinnear after reports suggested that Whites owner Andrea Radrizzani could lose up to £270m if his side are relegated this season.

The well-documented proposed takeover of the club by minority shareholders 49ers Enterprises at a value of £420m would be rocked as the price only applies if the club are still in the Premier League at the time of the sale.

Their option to buy the club expires next January, meaning Leeds would need to secure their place in England's top-flight in order for the 49ers to pay the full price - otherwise the Americans value the club at a reported £150m according to the Daily Mail.

With Radrizzani openly discussing interest in buying Serie A giants Inter Milan after the proposed sale of Leeds, and his admission that they need further funds in order to get to the next level, it'd be a huge blow to both his and the club's pockets if the Whites do drop down into the Championship.

However, seeing the reports, Neville has clearly taken his chance to jab back at Whites executive Kinnear, who once compared independent regulators for the Premier League to 'a philosophy akin to Maoist collective agriculturalism'.

In a tweet, he said: "He will be relying on good old 'Maoism'" - an obvious reference to Kinnear's previous words on a topic that Neville has advocated for on a consistent basis over the past few years.

This isn't the first time Neville has called out Kinnear on this particular issue either. When the words were written for the executive's column in a matchday programme against Crystal Palace back in 2021, he put out a similar tweet.

That one read: "Anyone remember when Leeds United were in the Championship sweating like crazy over their own financial state if they didn’t go up.

"How has it come to this within 12 months? A sorry state of affairs. Surely even Leeds fans don’t like these programme notes on the Fan Led Review."
