Leeds United are now favourites for relegation after a weekend which saw them lose to Manchester City, whilst their rivals Everton and Burnley were both victorious. Leeds wouldn't have marked the game against City as one they were likely to pick up points in, but the manner of Burnley and Everton's victories will have been demoralising, considering that Burnley were behind for almost 80 minutes at Watford, whilst Everton surprisingly beat Chelsea.
Gary Neville has provided encouragement to the Whites though, saying that the quality of their performance against the champions was good enough to stay up. That's in contrast to other performances he had witnessed from them earlier in the season.
"I’ve thought Leeds, all season, play like a team that could go down because of their recklessness and weakness at set-pieces," he said on the Gary Neville Podcast. "I have to say that performance was very different to other performances where we’ve seen them be battered four, five and six nil and we’ve thought ‘what the hell is that?’ That performance keeps Leeds up.

"They’re a bit frantic in the final third and they’ve got to stop conceding from set-pieces. Losing Cooper is a problem there. They do the things that teams that go down do, they are frantic, they concede from set-pieces but that performance does keep them up."
Neville also spoke about Burnley, who have been resurgent in the last few weeks. The Claret's win at Watford meant they had picked up ten points in just four games since sacking Sean Dyche.
"The Burnley result will have shocked Leeds. We were all horrified when Sean Dyche got sacked. It was one of the great jobs in the Premier League to do what he’s done. It’s absolutely incredible what they’ve done [since the sacking]."
