Gary Neville disagrees with Roy Keane on title race and makes 'scary' Liverpool claim

Gary Neville has predicted Liverpool will have a “dangerous” finish to the season as they battle for more silverware.

The Reds already have one trophy in the cabinet after winning the Carabao Cup last month. It was the first domestic cup competition won by Liverpool since 2012.

Jurgen Klopp’s side are still in the Champions League and the FA Cup, reaching the later stages of both competitions. They are also in a good position in the Premier League title race. Liverpool are one point behind leaders Manchester City with nine matches left to play. The two teams are due to meet at the Etihad Stadium on April 10.

Speaking ahead of the run-in, Neville argued why Liverpool look “dangerous” as they strive to win more trophies. The former Manchester United skipper went on to say why it’s “scary” to watch the Reds at the moment.

“I don’t think Liverpool are in bad form,” said Neville on Sky Sports’ The Overlap Live. “I don’t think you can be in good form if you’re in the FA Cup, the Champions League, the Premier League and the Carabao Cup. I don’t think you can be in good form.

“You’re going to just get through games through resilience, quality, spirit and energy. I think they are unbelievably dangerous, and I think they’re going to do something pretty special this season.

“When I watched them against Arsenal, there is nothing I saw that didn’t tell me they’re going to go and win the title. That is a title winning performance.

“I’ve said Man City all season, but I think Liverpool will win the league. They’re dangerous in the other two competitions and I think they’ll do something special because of those five strikers they’ve got.

“That midfield by the way, when people see the midfield at Liverpool as maybe their weakness - I think it’s their strength.

“The back and the front are so exceptional. The two full-backs (Andy Robertson and Trent Alexander-Arnold) are forward all the time, the front three are up there.

“The three in midfield, because of their discipline - Fabinho, Thiago, Henderson - their subservient nature to the rest of the players means that they hold everything together.

“They’re going to do something dangerous this season, and it’s scary as a Man United fan to say that. I really do worry that they will go on and win three or four trophies, it would concern me.”

However, Roy Keane disagreed with Neville’s prediction and tipped Man City to win the title. Keane argued why Pep Guardiola’s experience will give them the advantage over Liverpool.

“I’m still going with City (to win the league),” said Keane. “We’ve mentioned Klopp, as if Pep doesn’t know how to get over the line in these big games and in championships. Let’s not forget what an unbelievable manager he is, I still think City will do it.”
