Gary Neville has lambasted Manchester United for their approach to finding a winning goal against Southampton on Saturday.
United have once again failed to show a big reaction after a disappointing result and have now not won any of their three matches since the winter break.
Defeat to Middlesbrough in the FA Cup was followed up by a 1-1 draw at Burnley and then the same result a few days afterwards against the Saints.
Once again United took the lead, this time through Jadon Sancho tapping in Marcus Rashford's low cross, but they allowed their opponents to get back in the match with Che Adams getting the leveller just after the break.
United pushed for a winner as the game ticked towards the 90th minute, with Fraser Forster pulling off one remarkable save to deny Harry Maguire, but Neville has been critical of the way the team began to lose their patience in their search for a goal.
"Breaking every rule in the book here United on how to chase a goal!" the former captain tweeted.
"Don’t give fouls away, don’t give the ball away, don’t force it, don’t lose your discipline and chase the ref etc etc!"
He then added: "Probably score now," accompanied with a crying laughing emoji but that wasn't to be the case as Ralf Rangnick's side dropped yet more points in the top-four race.
United have now opened the door for fourth-placed West Ham United to go three points clear of them if they can defeat Leicester City on Sunday, while Arsenal and Tottenham have also been given the chance to gain ground with several games in hand.
