Graeme Souness has claimed “no one is interested” in listening to Gary Neville on issues away from football.
The Liverpool legend left his gig as a pundit for Sky Sports last week after 15 years of service. After an established playing career, Souness walked away from the game following a demoralising spell as Newcastle United manager.
However, the 69-year-old reignited his career as a straight-talking pundit, becoming a key component of Sky Sports’ football coverage. During his media career, Souness locked horns with several ex-players from rival clubs.

One of those was Neville, the former Manchester United captain who has worked at the station for over a decade. The two got into a fierce exchange after Liverpool embarrassed the Red Devils 7-0 at Anfield in March.
Neville said: "Look at you gloating like little children. My point is I’ve seen Liverpool play well for five or six years and they’ve put in some of the best performances I’ve ever seen. They’re still not back anywhere near that."
Souness fired back: "You just can’t come out with a daft remark saying, 'Liverpool didn’t play well today'. Do you think Man United were the better team in the first half? Not a chance."
Now, just one week after his departure, the ex-Liverpool captain and manager has taken a swipe at Neville for his out-of-football endeavours. Away from his Sky Sports role, Neville also campaigns for the Labour Party and has been a vocal proponent for an independent regulator in English football.
"I like listening to Roy,” Souness told the Up Front With Simon Jordan podcast when asked about his favourite colleagues. “I think the Chuckle Brothers, Gary Neville and Jamie Carragher, can be entertaining. It makes me chuckle anyway. He fights every cause going.
"I've got to choose my words. I think he (Neville) does overstep the mark with some of his crusades that he goes on. Because no one is really interested in listening to him on certain subjects."
Neville responded, appearing surprised that Souness had buried him so soon after his exit. The pair were both on duty for Sky Sports as Liverpool won in dramatic fashion against Tottenham Hotspur.
