BBC's highest earners list topped by Gary Lineker on £1.35 million with Alan Shearer in top three

Gary Lineker is once top of the BBC's highest earners list, after pulling in £1.35 million for his work with the broadcaster last year.

The only BBC star to make over a million over the last year, former England and Spurs striker Gary was at the helm of the channel's coverage of the delayed Euro 2020 tournament, as England made it all the way to the final, as well as keeping his job as the anchor of Match of the Day. and fronting the annual Sports Personality of the Year ceremony, during which he made a dig at the F1 championship result.

Gary's earnings of £1.35m put him comfortably ahead of the BBC's next best paid star, Zoe Ball, with the radio presenter and host of Strictly spin-off It Takes Two, second on the list after taking home £980,000 over the last 12 months.

The only new addition to the top 10, which also features Vanessa Feltz and Scott Mills, who has just made the switch from Radio 1 to Radio 2, is Radio 1 star Greg James, after he pulled in over £390,000..

Sunderland born TV and radio personality Lauren Laverne is just outside the top 10 in 12th place, with reported earnings of £380,000-£384,999. That put her just behind Radio 2 legend Ken Bruce and ahead of news anchor Naga Munchetty.
