Gary Lineker sends Jordan Pickford message after early Everton heroics vs Fulham

Gary Lineker has lauded Jordan Pickford for a pair of 'stunning' saves early on against Fulham.

Everton travel to Craven Cottage looking to pick up their worst win in London since May 2021, and do so with plenty of optimism after last weekend's commanding 3-0 win at home to Crystal Palace. They face no easy task, however, coming up against the surprise of the season in Fulham, who sit seventh after consecutive wins against Aston Villa and Leeds United.

Everton created the first chance of the game, but Marco Silva's side came rallying back early doors. And the home side should have been ahead but for a pair of wonderful saves from Pickford. The England No.1 showed his outstanding reflexes to tip Willian's effort over the bar from just six-yards before pushing Harrison Reed's effort over shortly after.

Two saves good enough for Lineker to heap praise on the stopper.

He tweeted: "2 stunning save from Jordan Pickford just seconds apart." alongside two clapping emojis.

Pickford has been in fine form all season, bringing through the summer his outstanding performances that ensured Premier League survival last term. A sure fire for Gareth Southgate's England squad - which will be announced next Thursday - and all-but-guaranteed his place in the starting line-up.
