Taking to his Twitter account, Lineker said: "Getting a number of texts from friends asking if I’m quitting Match of the Day after reports on Twitter of my possible successor. So it’s only fair I give you the bad news now: I’m afraid I still have 3 years to run on my contract, so you’re stuck with me for a while. "
The former Everton striker made 80 appearances for England and scored 43 times for the Three Lions. Lineker was successful during his playing days and his post-playing days after featuring on many television shows and adverts.
Lineker, who is 61 years old, is the face of Walkers crisps and is set to continue to be on televisions all over the country late on Saturday nights and early on a Sunday morning while presenting Match of the Day.
