The BBC has confirmed that Gary Lineker will return to present live coverage of the FA Cup quarter-final between Manchester City and Burnley FC on Saturday.
It comes after the corporation announced its star host would return and apologised for the disruption caused by the decision to stand Lineker down.
In thanking his supporters, Gary Lineker made another statement on small boats.
He wrote: “A final thought: however difficult the last few days have been, it simply doesn’t compare to having to flee your home from persecution or war to seek refuge in a land far away. It’s heartwarming to have seen the empathy towards their plight from so many of you.”
BBC confirmed the star presenter will return to the coroporation and internal independent review into its social media guidelines will be launched.
It comes as BBC chairman Richard Sharp is facing growing calls to resign over the row which has sparked an unprecedented crisis at the corporation.
