Gary Kirsten resigns as Pakistan's white-ball coach

Former South Africa batsman Gary Kirsten, who famously coached India during MS Dhoni & Co's triumphant run in the 2011 ODI World Cup, has resigned from his position as the head coach of Pakistan's white-ball teams.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) made the official announcement on 'X', saying that Kirsten's resignation has been accepted and the current Test team coach Jason Gillespie will take over for the upcoming T20Is and ODIs in Australia.

"The Pakistan Cricket Board today announced Jason Gillespie will coach the Pakistan men’s cricket team on next month’s white-ball tour of Australia after Gary Kirsten submitted his resignation, which was accepted."

Kirsten was appointed earlier this year in April. However, the two-year contract lasted just six months.

The PCB had earlier stripped both Kirsten and Gillespie of their voting powers in team selection, which hinted towards growing differences between the board and its coaches.
