Gary Cully lands massive knockout win on Katie Taylor undercard inside 35 seconds

Gary Cully recorded an impressive knockout win over Jaouad Belmehdi on the undercard of Katie Taylor's fight with Karen Elizabeth Carabajal on Saturday night.

It took the Kildare lightweight, who is coached by Taylor's father Pete, less than 35 seconds to stop his French opponent as he landed a thunderous left that sent Belmehdi tumbling to the floor and it was clear instantly that he would not be able to continue.

The victory, which came in Cully's first bout as a Matchroom fighter, takes his record to 15-0 and promoter Eddie Hearn was clearly impressed with what he seen, suggesting in the immediate aftermath that Cully could fight for a world title on the undercard of Katie Taylor's Croke Park homecoming if it goes ahead next year.
