Gary Barlow spotted in Sydney sparking rumours he's in Robbie Williams film

Gary Barlow has been spotted in Sydney, prompting speculation that he will feature in the upcoming Robbie Williams biopic.

The movie, called Better Man, is currently filming in Melbourne, leading fans to believe that Gary is combining business with pleasure on his trip.

The 51-year-old singer was seen on a family holiday in Sydney accompanied by his daughters Daisy, 13, and Emily, 19.

Gary was also spotted working out at F45 gyms and dining at several popular cafés in the eastern suburbs.

An insider in the industry also told the Daily Mail Australia that the Take That star has been "offering guidance to make sure the story is told right".

Nonetheless, a source has confirmed that Gary Barlow won't actually be appearing in the movie in front of the camera.

Instead, British actor Jake Simmance, known for his role in Anatomy of a Scandal, is set to play a teenage version of Barlow in the Robbie Williams biopic.

The other members of Take That will be played by Chase Vallenweider (Jason Orange), Liam Head (Howard Donald), and Jesse Hyde (Mark Owen).

Meanwhile, Robbie is set to play himself throughout the picture, making use of de-aging tools, and actor Jonno Davies also performing during flashback scenes.

Michael Gracey, who directed the 2017 movie The Greatest Showman starring Hugh Jackman, is at the helm of the project.

Robbie recently joked: "There are sex scenes that I do not condone. I am like, If they must be in there, Michael, then you put them in there.

"He said that it is a necessity for the script that I get completely naked and I am not sure why as there is one scene where we are in a church and it does not call for it!

"It is my life and it is what I got up to. It is not anodyne, it is not vanilla. It is drugs, the ups, the downs, the women, the sex."

The production is rumoured to have a budget of $100 million, and began filming at Docklands Studios in Melbourne in early 2022.

The movie will be a biopic of the Take That star, taking a look at the experiences which shaped his life and career over the years.

It will be the latest in a series of successful biopics based on musicians, following on from Bohemian Rhapsody, about Freddie Mercury, and Rocketman, which looked at the career of Elton John.

The movie had run into some difficulties early on as bosses struggled to find a young actor who would be able to play Robbie.

Robbie had reportedly become increasingly frustrated, worrying that the project would be pushed back unless they could find someone to play him during his 1990s glory days.

The former youngest member of Take That also hopes that the biopic will help him to break into the long coveted and elusive US scene.
