Garth Brooks Dublin concerts to have 50 cameras filming in Croke Park for Netflix documentary

Garth Brooks will have 50 cameras filming him during his Croke Park gigs as part of a Netflix documentary.

He kicks off the first of his five nights at GAA headquarters this Friday. Initially set as two nights on September 9 and 10, huge demand saw a third added for September 11, followed by two more on September 16 and 17.

Aiken Promotions boss Peter Aiken said the huge audience that will come to Croker is tiny compared to the one that will watch the gigs from home. He added: “He’s going to have 50 cameras floating around shooting all over him.”

But unlike many touring artists who are usually seen drinking pints of Guinness around the city, Peter revealed 60-year-old Brooks reserves his energy for the his three-hour show. He said: “He’s here to do his job. He has to prepare himself before the show. Maybe it is a two-hour process. I’ve seen artists half his age coming off the stage in absolute bits.

“He will run up and down and roar and shout. It takes some amount of effort. People are obsessed with doing their 10,000 steps a day and they’re in bits after. He’ll do that halfway through the show and he’s singing at the same time and keeping an eye on the band.”

We previously revealed the Friends In Low Places singer has created a unique experience for his legions of fans. Peter said: “It’s obscene. He’s very aware of just how big of an event this is. This isn’t just a concert – this is a big event. Nobody has ever sold five nights at Croke Park. No supergroup could do five nights.

“There’s never been a band or an artist that could come in here and say, ‘We could’ve sold five nights’. He’s broken every rule and he knows he’s playing to 400,000 people so maybe the fact that he did the stadium tour over the last three years and a lot of people have seen it or gone to it, maybe he’s saying that he wants to put on something special.

“The greatest special effect of any artist is the songs.” Aiken Promotions event controller Jim Clarke said: “It is going to be an extravaganza.

“This equipment, a lot of it has been has been flown directly in Ireland from America. It is a one-off, it’s not part of the established tour. So everything we’re doing here we’re doing for the first time.”

At the press conference on Monday, organisers warned people to plan their journey to and from Croke Park, as there is only one car park close to the venue that holds 400 cars and traffic restrictions will be in place near the venue. People aged under 14 will not be allowed on to the standing/pitch area, and bags must be less than an A4 size and will be searched on the way into the venue.

Revellers are also asked to double check the date on their tickets and are reminded the show starts at 7.30pm, with gates open from 5pm.
