Garrett Wilson wins NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year

We had a pretty good idea that Garrett Wilson could be really good at the next level. After a spectacular career at Ohio State, Wilson was the No. 10 overall pick in the NFL draft courtesy of the New York Jets. Wilson had an outstanding rookie season and today was announced as the AP NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year.

Wilson becomes the first Buckeye to win the Offensive Rookie of the Year since 1996 when Eddie George was given the honor while playing with the Houston Oilers (now the Tennessee Titans).

Wilson broke the Jets franchise rookie records for receptions with 83 and receiving yards with over 1,100. The former OSU receiver also added four touchdowns on the season.

Wilson finished ahead of another Big Ten rookie, former Michigan State Spartan, Kenneth Walker of the Seattle Seahawks. Wilson’s former running mate in scarlet and gray, Chris Olave, finished fifth in the rookie of the year voting.

The future looks bright for both of these former Buckeyes… but OSU fans have known that for a while.
