Jets wide receiver and reigning Offensive Rookie of the Year Garrett Wilson confirmed on Twitter Monday that he will wear No. 17 in 2023 and switch to No. 5 in 2024.
There was speculation that Wilson would switch numbers this season and go back to the number he wore at Ohio State. He also has the Roman numeral V in his Twitter handle. No. 5 was unavailable last season as quarterback Mike White had the number.
White is now in Miami so the number is available, but Wilson will wait a year before making the switch. “I’m in 17 this season, 5 the season following,” Wilson tweeted.
I’m in 17 this season. 5 the season following. Wanted to let y’all kno 💯
