Garrett Mitchell had a message for his wife in his postgame interview after crushing a walkoff home run against the New York Mets on Wednesday.
“I was thinking about this, but: When my wife doesn’t show up to the games,” he said to Sophia Minnaert, “usually something good happens. Going into that at-bat, I was like, ‘Man, well, she’s not here, so might as well do something fun.'”
LOL! Mitchell is married to pro softball player Haley Cruse Mitchell, who definitely saw the interview and had to say something on Twitter. Actually, it was a bunch of things and they were all very funny:

He did not stutter. Meanwhile I missed the game because I was busy STOCKING HIS FRIDGE

Garrett made up for it though:
After making the joke with Sophia that he plays better when @haley_crusee isn't at the ballpark, Garrett made sure to say he's excited to spend the off day with her. https://t.co/iui5ozv7Sy pic.twitter.com/q45k8FlP2x
