Gareth Southgate responds after England capitulate to FIFA over 'OneLove' World Cup armband

Gareth Southgate has spoken on the Football Association's call to ask Harry Kane not to wear the 'OneLove' rainbow armband for England's World Cup opener against Iran.

The FA was one of seven World Cup associations that planned to use the rainbow-coloured armband — a message against discrimination in Qatar, where homosexuality is illegal - during the tourament.

But in a joint-statement just hours before England's opening game, the FA, along with the other European nations who had signed up to the campaign – which included Wales – confirmed the armbands will no longer be worn due to fear of a yellow card being issued.
