Gardaí ‘told not to pursue wrong-way driver’ before fatal crash – officer group

Gardaí were told not to engage with a stolen vehicle travelling the wrong way down a motorway before a horror fatal head-on crash with another car, a representative organisation has said.

Five teenagers, all occupants of one of the vehicles, died and four people were seriously injured in the crash on the M9 motorway in Co Kildare in the early hours of Sunday morning.
