Gardai in Galway seized a whopping €465,000 worth of drugs following a search in the Ballygar area.
Two men have been arrested as a result of the search, which was part of the force's Operation Tara.
Following a property search in Ballygar, Co Galway, Gardai discovered cannabis plants valued at €465,000. The drugs were seized and sent for further analysis.
Gardai conducted a search of the property at midday on Wednesday, September 7.
Two men were arrested following the search, aged in their 30s and 40s. They were detained and have since been charged.
Both men are due to appear before Ballinasloe District Court today, September 8.
A spokesperson for the Gardai said: “As part of Operation Tara, Gardaí have seized €465,000 worth of drugs following a search operation in Galway yesterday, Wednesday, 7th September 2022.
“At approximately 12:30pm yesterday afternoon, Gardaí conducted a search of a property in Ballygar, Co. Galway. During the course of the search, cannabis plants, with a value of €465,000, were discovered on the property.
“Two males, one aged in his 40s and the other in his 30s, were arrested as a result.
“Both were detained under the provisions of Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking Act) 1996 at Waterford North Western Regional Headquarters. Both have since been charged and are due to appear before Ballinasloe District Court this morning, Thursday 8th September 2022.”
