Gardai are on high alert over fears Mr Flashy will wage war with other factions to wipe out his enemies.
The thug from Finglas in North Dublin, is in hiding with a gang from the city after coming within inches of being shot dead on Monday, we can reveal. Detectives are now bracing themselves for a revenge attack from his self-proclaimed “Gucci Gang” against slain James Whelan’s associates.
Gardai believe Flashy is actively looking for backing from city-based gangs, leading to fears violence will spiral beyond Finglas. With many of his soldiers, including crazed Scott Capper in jail, the gangster has recruited men in their late teens and early 20s to wage his war.

A source said: “It’s the closest Flashy has ever been to death so there’s no doubt there will be a response from his side. The big concern now is how far he will go. He has links to other gangs in the city and he is trying to get backing from them. That would be a very serious development.”
Flashy and an associate were in a taxi on the Tolka Valley Road in Finglas when they came under fire on Monday afternoon. He escaped by running through a green area while his ally – who is being blamed for killing Whelan in Finglas on April 3 – also fled.
Following the botched attack, two associates of Whelan were arrested in Glasnevin cemetery. The pair, one aged in his 20s and the other in his 30s, are from Ballymun and Tallaght, and well-known to gardai.
Yesterday, detectives were continuing to quiz the pair at Blanchardstown Garda station. We understand a van involved in the attack has also been seized, along with the taxi which came under fire, both of which are being examined.
The feud has seen more than 80 attacks including a number of beatings, shootings, a grenade attack and the murder of Whelan. Gardai have carried out successful operations against the men involved which has curbed violence but the determined criminals continue to plot attacks.
And it has seen innocent people targeted on both sides. Last month, Whelan’s mother, who has no involvement in crime, escaped injury when her home was petrol bombed.
Later, a property linked to Flashy’s relatives, who also have no involvement in crime, was set alight.
