Gardai launch criminal investigation after damage done to car in Drogheda driveway

Gardai have launched a probe after criminal damage was done to a car in the early hours of Monday morning.

The incident took place just after midnight on the Donore Road in Drogheda.

According to local reports, a car was set alight in the driveway of a house.

A Garda spokesperson confirmed that an investigation was underway into the incident.

They told the Irish Mirror: "Gardaí are investigating an incident of criminal damage to a car in a drive way on Donore Road, Drogheda that occurred at approximately 12.30a.m. this morning, Monday January 31st, 2022. Investigations ongoing."

Separately, Gardaí in Kilkenny have launched an investigation after a man was rushed to hospital with head injuries following an assault this weekend.

The attack occurred at around 7:45 am on Sunday, and at this point, it is believed to have occurred on Lord Edward Street.

A man in his 30s was reportedly treated by paramedics after receiving “a number of lacerations to his head.”

Officers confirmed that his injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

No arrests have been made at this time but investigations are ongoing.
