Gardaí investigating claim of incident near Dublin beach which allegedly saw boy thrown off bridge

Gardai have confirmed they have opened an investigation into a claim that a boy was thrown from a bridge near a Dublin beach in an alleged incident last weekend.

The claim, which first materialised on Wednesday, says that an argument between the boy and an adult male motorist saw things escalate.

He was allegedly thrown into the water off the Wooden Bridge - which links Clontarf over to the North Bull Wall and Bull Island at Dollymount

At the moment, there are no reports of any injuries to the male youth, while no official complaint appears to have been made as of yet.

The Irish Mirror contacted Gardai about the claim on Friday.

In a statement, a spokesperson said: "Gardaí are making inquiries into reports of an incident at Wooden Bridge, Dollymount, Dublin on the afternoon of 14th August 2022. There are no reports of injuries at this time.”

The bridge itself overlooks parts of Dublin Bay.
