A garda investigation is under way after a woman's body was found on a beach in Co Wexford.
The discovery was made in the Sally’s Lane area of Kilgorman Beach on Wednesday afternoon.
It is understood that gardai and emergency services had been alerted at around 12pm that a woman had entered the water.
A body was then recovered a few hours later.
The woman's body has been taken to University Hospital Waterford where a post mortem will take place.
Gardai say they are investigating "all circumstances" surrounding the discovery and that the results of the post mortem will direct the course of their probe.
A garda spokesperson said: "Gardaí are investigating all the circumstances surrounding the discovery of a body of a woman in the Sally’s Lane area of Kilgorman Beach, Co. Wexford, this afternoon, Wednesday 23th February 2022.
"The body of the deceased has been removed to University Hospital Waterford where a post mortem will take place.
"The results of the post mortem will direct the further course of this investigation."
