Missing boy, 6, found safe and well after major appeal

UPDATE: Michael has been located safe and well.

Gardai said in a statement: "An Garda Síochána would like to thank the media and the public for their assistance with this matter. No further media action is required."

Gardai are searching for a six-year-old boy who was reported missing from Mullingar on Friday.

Michael O'Connell is believed to be with adult relatives and in Northern Ireland or the border regions.

Gardai say they are concerned for the child's welfare and are urgently seeking the public's help in finding him.

Michael is described as approximately 4ft tall with black hair and blue eyes.

Investigating Gardaí are also looking for information on the current whereabouts of the any of the following vehicles:
151WH2454 Silver BMW 418
131WH1629 Blue Audi A4
00WH5417 Fiat Campervan

A garda spokesperson said: "Anyone with any information on Michael’s whereabouts is asked to contact Mullingar Garda Station on 044 938 4000, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111 or any Garda station."
